| Trish talks about her RippleVox experience - models, MTV film crews, and Singapore Idol stars! |
Once in a lifetime chance of attending super cool events? Check. Microphone? Lights? Camera? Check check check. Script for the day? Umm, what script? You're on your own mate! And guess what, it's not as scary as you think it is! Just be yourself and tell us what you think! Ripplevox is a special community of YOUNG people (that means us) who gets to have their pennyworth on the issues concerning around us. May it be new products or special events, the youth will FINALLY get to open their mouths and actually be heard. The coolest thing is you do not even have to have the experience of being a reporter! At our young age, they allow us to be someone that we are most comfortable with, which is no doubt, ourselves. Unmistakably the vainest person you’ll meet, I was more than willing to do any form of assignment especially if it is in front of a camera. It started off after I had won a make over contest in MTV Pop Inc. Right then, I thought, "this is going to be the last time I’m going to be on TV! Pah!" However, Michell (Pop Inc. producer) emailed me and told me all this hoo haa about "Ripplevox". She urged me to join this community as she felt that "I am very suitable in front of the camera!". Ok, so what other ego booster do I need? I was hyper excited! I quickly signed up and was eager to attend the audition. My audition was held in Suntec City Convention Centre, and MTV VJ Choy was the one who interviewed me. My gosh, did it feel nice to just play around with the camera and not really knowing what you're saying? Heck yeah! It was fun knowing that you can tell others about your VERY own opinion on things, and no one is going to stop you because that is what Ripplevox is about. The thing about this community is that they do not just throw you in assignments and expect you to be good at it. They make sure it fits your interest, your personality. So what else can my first assignment be? Hear ye, Hear ye! I get to attend the Calvin Klein Ck Fashion Event baby! Oh yes you heard me right. The whole catwalk things, meeting the designer himself, watching the runway show, everything! I got the chance to interview the guests and as well as the models. At first, I was really caught up with looking and sounding good. Then I realized, heck all that! I'm going to do and say what I feel like saying and it's up to viewers if they would like or not. I end up asking questions that were not even in the script, but of course, still relevant to the issue. I began to feel less and less squeamish about the whole thing. I was enjoying myself too much I started thinking wildly what my next assignment would be! You see guys, this is the time and place where you can voice out your own views and have fun at the same time. Who can say NO to getting exclusive invites to events and get to report about it? Definitely not me. We, youngsters, have always complained about not being noticed or heard on concerns that are usually being taken care of by the older ones. So trust me when I say that time is over, because this is the place where you can have your say! Signing out,
