Trish went backstage to interview the Calvin Klein designer and hang with the hip crowd
Project Runway, America's next top model and other fashion related shows, why watch them when you can be ON it?
Tidbits for all of you:
1. Those trendy, thick belts are originally for GUYS back in the days
2. Either wear outrageous earrings OR necklace, don't wear both at the same time
3.Did you guys know that BRENT used to strut his stuff in the runway of Milan?
Yes people, he used to be a glitzy model (not that he's not glitzy anymore but sure..:P) before he realized he's way better off doing something else.
So let's get down to the world of sophistication and sheer sleek of black. The main theme of the new ck Calvin Klein Collection is simple: Black. I have never really fancy black, it gave me the if-you-have-nothing-else-to-wear-then-wear-black kind of rational.
Who would have thought that Black can be so stylish and sexy at the same time? Well I did, after watching the classy Fashion Runway show!
Mr Kevin Carrigan, the creative director of Calvin Klein is NOT your usual snobby and bossy fashion designer. I have to say that I was teeny weeny nervous on interviewing him, since he's been in fashion industry for so long and probably I was expected to be professional as well.
In contrary, he was down to earth and has very much set the ease during the interview! The interview was set backstage, so that means the models were there (Man, they were H-O-T) and check this, there was this table full of McDonalds' meals!
I saw some of the models divulging burgers, running here and there getting all their make up and hair done, getting shouted at to take care of their own belongings, massaging their feet due to the torture level of the killer heels and many other things.
Who ever said the life of a model is all that splendid and beautiful? Well fellow fashionistas, it is not. But hey, if you see the runway with the mysterious blue lights, you may just find yourself doing the cat walk thing like I did.:)
Not exactly on time, but the fashion show was definitely a hit. Black has so many different faces and styles. Vintage, elegant, feminine, classy, all at once! There was one guy model who was carrying a purse! Man did it look so hot on him :P
The guests were just as fashionable. I was mainly checking out their shoes and earrings (two of my wildest obsession) and some of them were actually budding fashion designers as well!
Overall it was an eye opening experience of becoming a ripplevox member. It was tiring, pressurizing at some point, yet at the end of the day (or night, that is) it was all worth knowing it is something that I would love to be doing in the long run.
I've always wanted to be a model (though I am vertically challenged) , but seeing it all happen and reporting about it is so much more thrilling than walking and being stared at.
1st: Good opportunity, Thanks RippleVox
2nd: Great networking with great & happy people.
3rd: Its time to go home...haiz...Good day everyone!
Much thanks to mtv and ripplevox peeps. To Angeline and Veron for taking care of me. Not forgetting Brent, for uhh, being there.Haha.Hope to see you guys SOON! *wink
