  Jonathan with Gayle Nerva
Interview With Gayle
This is my second time, so no doubt, I feel so much more confident! There is this one change however which was unexpected. No video cameras allowed. How come? I guess it is back to the conventional way of conducting an interview.

And that's with a notebook, a pen, an extremely fast pair of hands to take down notes, and wit to cope with anything we didn't expect.

With the interview being brought forward to 4p.m, I had to rush through lunch and take a bus to MediaCorp. Luckily, school is a stone throw away, so the bus journey was fast. The nightmare began when I had to walk from the bus stop to MediaCorp which was all the way inside, up the hill. With the blazing sun and humid air as company, I slowly made my way in. Maybe I should take a cab next time. Will have to see if my budget allows.

To ensure that the interview was not over monotonous and similar to the previous one, it was necessary to think of new questions. Sadly, I do not know the idols too well, so I do not know what personal questions to ask.

Thus, most of the questions I came up revolve around the standard experience and lessons learnt. Maybe I need to do more research for the subsequent interviews. Lets hope that time allows!

The interview was about to start, so we needed our passes. Told the receptionist we were going to interview Gayle. The receptionist apparently thought Gayle was a m.corp staff and insisted that she must register our names.

Why did Mediacorp change their security system, I do not know. However, it definitely brought about inconvenience, for us and the other people involved, especially since the receptionist did not even know who Gayle was…

Since only video recording was not allowed, I used my handphone to do a voice recording instead. Gayle looked great and was full of enthusiasm, ready to tackle any questions we ask. It started out slow, but she opened up after the warm up questions and was soon revealing interesting facts like how Paul drools in his sleep! The words "I enjoyed Singapore Idol" were written all over her face, which was glowing throughout the interview.

Compared to Norman, Gayle definitely learnt more from the idol journey.

Then, I did the stupidest thing no reporter will ever do. I forgot to save the voice recording of the interview because I pressed the 'cancel' button instead of 'save'. Oh my god. Luckily, I took down lots of notes (thanks to my gosu writing speed), so all was not lost.

And this time round, there weren't any tickets. Haha, I doubt I can attend anyway. Maybe some true fan out there will get that ticket instead, yay!

Go Gayle, all the best!
