Thank you RippleVox For the chance to interview Norman! It was definitely an invaluable experience and I couldn't have asked for more. I must admit, I was rather shock when asked to be a reporter for the press conference since I have never done such a thing before. My impression was that it would be a daunting task to compete with other professionals for the chance to get to interview the idol. In addition, I wasn't confident of asking a stranger all the questions about his/her experience in SI especially since I do not follow the show closely. I would have been more comfortable talking about things I like such as the latest coolest gadgets and photography.
Nonetheless, the interview sounded like fun and I will definitely get to meet new people! So, prior to Monday, I did a bit of research and guess what, the issue of 8 Days that week featured the twelve idols. It was godsend I tell you! Took me a bit of time to memorise the names of the idols, but it was a breeze. They were all interesting people with their own share of stories and experience. And what I must do would be to worm these secrets out of them. The next thing I knew, Norman was voted out, disqualified, rejected! That was a sad news for many, and it definitely brought the interview to a whole new level. It was no longer a simple interview with any contestants, but an interview with the talent whose dream to be an idol is dashed. Time past quickly and soon, it was Monday. I was so tired staying up all night to finish school work that my mind was a blank when I woke up. Thank god for the miracle beverage --- Coffee.
Met Francis at the office. After being briefed by Jack, we swiftly made our way down to MediaCorp for the interview. From the number of fans waiting to get Norman's autograph, I could see just how much support this great singer is getting. The reason for his popularity will be revealed soon. Throughout the interview, Norman maintained a cheerful and carefree personality. He took all the questions thrown at him lightheartedly, adding bits of humour every so often.
He even sang the 'Superta' song which evoked so much emotion. A great guy with a rich character.
I enjoyed filming, perhaps because of my interest in photography, haha! I must admit, I was nervous when it was my turn to interview, after seeing how Francis did such a wonderful job. Perhaps I could have really asked him the really interesting questions instead of the usual 'how was your experience' or 'what do you intend to do' Well, I sure hope I did ok. Norman truly deserves credit for keeping the interview going smoothly. And I had fun.
Loads!
So once again, I would like to thank RippleVox, in particular Brent and Jack, for the opportunity and your valuable guidance. Thank you ;)
