It's another round of interview with the latest contestant to be voted out of the very much "talent missing" Singapore Idol. Before we conducted the interview, I was telling Nurul, the latest ousted idol finalist that I had been interviewing talented female contestants every other week! What's up with that Singapore? Oh well, we all concluded that the only people voting in this competition are the clueless little girls who are only attracted to the good looks of the fellow male contestants. Of course, there is also some male talented singers in the show, like Hardy and Jonathan.
Yup, Nurul pleaded with us after the interview to add the above statement in. She wanted to emphasized that she was feeling great and had no grudges.
On the other hand, many people including the makeup lady assumed that she was feeling low from her departure from the competition. So to all reading this, NURUL IS FEELING HAPPY AND PLEASE DO NOT WORRY ABOUT HER!
To Nurul, the whole idol journey was a huge roller coaster ride. Just when she thought that she could no longer make it past the top 28, her name was announced as part of the top 12. The whole technology glitz that causes her, the place at first also came as a shock. On a whole, it had been an amazing roller coaster ride. Nurul had absolutely no regrets about leaving the competition. She had learnt to be a lot through this competition. It taught her to be humble and not be swayed by all the material comfort one can derived in the very complicated media industry. It is very important to remain humble and not let fame crowd out your mind. After all, she now only has her friends and family to support her.
Among the top 12 contestants, Gayle Nerva was her closest pal. Be it hobbies, problems or thoughts, they both share everything. They were practically soul mates. Hardy is like her a big brother to her. They too share their problems and woes together. Paul, one of the youngest in the competition, is her baby brother. She always made it a point to take good care of him. The friendship forged between the contestants is very real defended Nurul. She said that the contestants were living away from their loved ones and spent every single activity with one another, thus their relationship is really strong and real.
When asked who had the most talent in the competition, her response was immediate. The people are Hardy and Mathilda. Nurul's favourite judge was Jacintha who was always there to support the contestants during their afternoon rehearsals. She told us, half in jest, that Jacintha's comments are very useful when one manages to "decrypt" it.
As for now, Nurul do not have concrete plans. Her options are still open.
She may return to her previous job of a freelance performer. She was also thinking of furthering her studies. Of course, we concluded the interview once again by presenting her with her soon-to-be favourite Ripplevox Tee! We had a mini debate about the color though. Is is pink? Purple? Lilac? Should I get one too?
Till then,
Francis.
