On the first day of the heats, I was actually only down to support my friend Lawrence that was taking part in the competition, but next thing i knew, Amber and the other organisers were encouraging me to take part as well, and so I did!
So I went up there just to have some fun, and surprisingly I actually got through to the finals as a wildcard winner! Unfortunately, I fell and cut my leg quite bad against the surf board, and I had to have 3 stitches! It was actually really painful, and the next day I was deliberating whether to continue, but after much encouragement from my friends, I went against doctor's orders and competed.
Up on stage, I was feeling rather nervous, really scared that I was going to fall and hit my leg again, but I just kept telling myself, do your best, have fun, and most importantly, fall away from the board!
When it was my turn, I jumped onto the board, gave a big smile, did my best to stay on and get the crowd going at the same time. I was amazed that I actually held on for slightly over a minute! All throughout, I kept grinning like a fool, and perhaps that was what won the judges over.
I was really happy and excited when Glenn called out my name and wow I was just thinking that this has got to be the best prize I've ever won!
