Rockin' with Hoobastank... Just over a month since they began gigging and only two months since they began playing in a band together, The Sexies found themselves playing on the same stage as international musical sensation Hoobastank, in Fort Canning park, before a bigger crowd than they'd ever played in front of since they started out. So many things have been happening in the past month for the band that it seems almost surreal. The set itself was preceded by some unavoidable technical faults, but was by and large unmarred, thanks to swift work by Kevin the monitor soundman and the very helpful stage crew. Rocking out with their original numbers "The Monotone Song", "Never Again (The Pink Panther Song)", and "Whatever Happened To You", it really couldn't get any better than this for The Sexies, comprised of Guitarist/Vocalist Li Xiao'an, Keyboardist/Vocalist Cheryl Lee, Bassist/Vocalist David Siow, and Percussionist Melvin Loh. After their set, Hoobastank blazed onstage with the immaculate, high-energy set that they've gained a solid performance reputation for, while The Sexies were interviewed for the second time, after Rock Da House at Timbre, by Channel V. After the concert, both The Sexies and Hoobastank went down to Bar None to conclude, mingle, and celebrate the success of the evening in a wonderful musical setting of old rock covers played by the resident band. The Sexies would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to the Ripplevox team, without whom this would have been nothing more than a fantasy. -The Sexies |
