  Noise Festival 2006
Noise Singapore 2006 Festival Showcase

And 5,4,3,2,1 - "Hi there! Im marilyn, your ripplevox member..." there, my first words on air. It took me more than 10 takes to get that right. Oh well, you can't blame me for having butterflies in my tummy. My heart was literally dropped into a pool of fizzy coke, all i could hear at that moment was my own heart beat.

So there I was, standing in the middle of an art work exhibit at the Noise Singapore 2006 festival showcase at MarinaSquare getting ready to start my introduction. I took a couple of breaks in between to get my lines right while Glenn Ong was on stage announcing the two winners for both graphic motion and blogskin. I recited the introduction more than a million times. I bet the crew was frustrated and tired once I forgot my lines. However, when I finally remembered everything and was ready to start, nothing came out of my mouth and my mind was blank. I thought to myself "Great, now the camera man must be pissed at me."

Standing in front of the camera man and the rest of the crew, little did I know that all eyes were on me as I kept repeating the take. Anyhows, I managed to get the whole thing right twice. I was told that the first take was too stiff. haha. I can imagine myself like a stone. There were waiters walking around with snacks and drinks. It was almost like a private function but, in public.

I walked around and viewed the winning entries of the various categories and they all were fantastic! They even had little stations where you can listen to the music pieces the youths composed. Talking about music, the music and sound of the event was set up by my school - REPUBLIC POLYTECHNIC. Tell me im proud of my school. HAHA!

The camera man and crew followed me as I walked around and viewed all the works of the young artists. There was once the camera man asked me to dance to the beat of the music I was listening through the headphones jokingly. I thought he was serious about it and I did just as told until he stopped me and laughed. It was damn embarrassing! I walked over to the table of laptops and was told to view at it with curiosity and enthusiasm. Guess what? The laptop sort of hang and there was nothing to view but a stucked page. I had to pretend that I was scrolling with joy and reading with curiosity!

Nearing the end, I interviewd the two winners of the starhub creative awards, mainly the blogskin and graphic motion. Both of them were really nervous. I had fun with the both of them but more with the winner of the graphic motion - Jerrick. He was really really shy and got stuck when I asked one of the questions and he whispered to me to ask for another take. I laughed badly about that and giggled throughout the interview with him while asking questions. You should have seen his face when he got stuck and asked for another take. They both took 3 days to finish their work and the reason for doing it? They had nothing to do at home. haha. I think I should start finding my creative side and do some art pieces as well when I have nothing to do at home, who knows, I might be interviewed by another ripplevox member in the next Noise singapore festival showcase for my art. haha. Okay, stop dreaming.

Signing off and saying goodbye was a relief. I thought I felt more confident than the start. I had a break before shooting it and had snacks and drinks with my supporters haha I mean my friends who were there to support me throughout the event. Anyway, it was all a great oppotunity and a brilliant experience that all others out there want. Especially, according to the camera man, everyone wants a chance to get hold of the mtv microphone. So i should count myself lucky. :)

Thanks Veron and crew for making this happen! LOVE.

P.S: Never never never say "It's a wrap" after everything ends because only the producer and director can say that. I swear I didn't know and was sort of told off only when I said it. DAMN. what's the big deal right Veron? I still don't get it.
