It was triple the fun and double the date when I got to interview all 3 members of FIR at MTV’s Pop Inc studios and catch them in action at their exclusive showcase at Junction 8.
It was all ‘butterflies in stomach’ and ‘weak in the knees’ when I got the assignment to do an interview with FIR. I was kinda nervous cos I wasn’t really into the Chinese music scene and worst of all, my mandarin was getting rather rusty.
Saturday was the day of the showcase at junction 8 and luck of all lucks, it also happened to be the day of my mid term exams. Weird enough, I was more nervous bout the showcase rather than my mid terms! Instead of mugging, I was reading up on additional information bout the band. But it turned out all good, the mid terms were so difficult everyone did badly whether they studied or not. Hahaha..
It felt great going round the with MTV mic interviewing FIR fans. I got the full media treatment with backstage passes and a cameraman following me round. Some fans were very camera shy but most were enthusiastic bout giving FIR a good old love shout out. I had great interaction with the fans and the FIR performance that came was nothing short of phenomenal! With a front row view of the performance, I really enjoyed myself thoroughly that day.
Then came Monday, where I got to do a one on one interview with FIR at the famed MTV Pop Inc studios. It’s cool to see the studio on TV but it totally blew me away seeing it real life! The friendly producers prepped me up on my interview questions and I was all ready to go. The meeting with FIR was surreal. They turned out to be really nice and down to earth people. The interview went on smoothly and gladly, my mandarin didn’t fail me. I felt really comfortable talking to them and I got many questions answered in our very relaxed chat. And as if Faye was enough to get me smitten, I also got the chance to meet the beautiful MTV VJ’s May and Choy! To end the day off with beautiful memories, I took pictures with the band and also got my FIR soundtrack autographed!
