So there it wuz - An email from Veronica of Ripplevox, wanting me to send in an introductory videoclip of myself.

First thought?

"Like wow, i actually got a response jez days after being accepted as a Ripplevox member.. Not bad!"

Hahahz! Too bad i din have e chance to go thru e email as comprehensively as i would love to, seeing that work beckoned and i had absolutely no time to indulge in a lil bit of excitement.

To Veron: Thanks so much for reminding me! Ur call wuz exactly wad i needed to finally realise tt this could be my big break!! Well, not exactly, but definitely a chance to live up my life-long dream of becoming a VJ! Nyehahahz...

So then reality struck me.

I had e whole weekend to do up e vid, of which wuz a major problem in itself. Why? Cuz wen i looked at my schedule (as alwiz.. bz, bz Jannah..), i had to sumhow sneak in e vid n e midst of my hosting and filming stints as well as precious time initially set aside to prepare for my upcoming group presentation! Not one to do things half-heartedly and being perfectionist to a fault most of the time, my mind began to craft a plan so i could accommodate all and not miss anything. So i roped in my friends to lend a helping hand!

Lo and behold! After a very late night spent at my place on Sunday night/Monday morning, e vid wuz finally ready for submission. To say the least, i wuz very excited alredi not only due to the prospects of what e vid may promise, but also to showcase my friend's expertise in producing the vid. Hehee~

Here's what happened:

Monday morning:
Submitted the vid to Veron

Monday mid-morning:
Veron called to inform tt e vid will be forwarded to MTV and Starhub, and i should expect the outcome anytime later in the day. (And my mind wuz reeling - Wad exactly does tt all mean?? Hahahz!)

Monday Mid afternoon:
I GOT IT!!!!

Pray tell, what did i get?

As far as dreams go, this is by far the most unbelievable:

An interview session with Taufik Batisah and Olinda Cho!! Plus, an exclusive invitation to the Zing It Up Party at Velvet Underground!!!

You noe sumtimes your ears take in a piece of news that sumhow, for one peculiar reason or another, takes so long to register?

Well, at tt point in time, i wuz guilty of exactly that. I gez tt's how i am. Slowly yet surely, e plateau rises up to a peak tt wen it happens, there's no absolutely no turning back! Hahahz!!

People ard me had various reactions, that ranged from the ubiquitous "Wow Jannah u're so lucky!!" to the nonchalant "Heh. I dun believe you.".. And me? "Taufik? Oh, ok."
(Yah i noe, i noe, aim your daggers this way.... Hahahz!)

But sumhow, the realization came in a rush, it almost blinded me. Suddenly, in the middle of lunchtime on Tuesday, my mind started itz "think like crazy' mode and my heart jez couldnt help beating faster.

Steady, Jannah...

After a flurry of activities leading up to Wednesday itself, i finally got myself in a cab to meet Veron at the MTV office. There we met Angeline and cabbed (again!) our way to Velvet. Needless to say, my heart wuz practically leaping in glee as it welcomed the fact tt i wuz abt to live my dreams!

Velvet wuz exactly how i remembered it to be. Soothing ambience with nice velvety seats almost enticing enough to make me chill, relax, and sink into those feel-good ergonomic caresses. But no, a much more important job wuz waiting for me!! Ehee~

Time wuz definitely of e essence. Without getting into e technicalities, let's jez say tt my airtime with Taufik and Olinda wuz cut short by half!! ;P

But hey, this is but one of e many many things tt shld be expected in this industry rite? An industry whr time management can oni be meticulously planned, until unforeseen circumstances throws everything off e track. So we all made full use of what little time we had, and i dare say, it went pretty well!

First up - Olinda!

Olinda has this certain demeanor abt her tt makes me believe in her passion and sincerity to succeed and live up her dreams. Thruout e whole interview, she wuz the epitome of coolness and sophistication. But tt's not to say she doesnt hv her crazy side!!

Then on to Taufik.

Now, tt wuz fun! Taufik had a very relaxed yet engaging style which made me feel more at ease. Definitely a talker, he effortlessly waxed lyrical abt his songs and everythin else i asked (which wuznt enuf in e first place!). He definitely noes how to werk his charm to the camera, tt i cld clearly see, and at the same time, communicate effectively with me. And boy wuz i glad wen he himself said tt the interview went very well! Weee~

I relli like the concept of internet and mobile downloads of songs and other paraphernalia, for itz definitely very convenient, especially for busy individuals like you and me! And it caters to different target publics, which makes it all the more user-friendly. Though still in itz baby stages, i'd like to think tt itz a concept tt will take off pretty well in S'pore.

Alas, it all ended a moment too soon. Taufik and Olinda had to be whipped off for makeup and all, leaving me, Veron, and Angeline left to our own devices. But it wuz still an experience not to be forgotten, something tt i gez even my short-term memory will not supersede!

While waiting for the party to start, i had to do my opening and closing links. Wow.. People, dun u eva think tt bein a VJ is ez! You actuali hv a lot of responsibilities to shoulder whether you realise it or not! But of course, e main point is to relax and hv fun, cuz tt's when u're natural and able to bring the viewers in to wadeva u're saying and whreva u r! I'd soo luv to do it all agn!! (BIG HINT!! Hahahz!!)

Other than tt, i also had to do sum voice-pops, whr i casually go up to sum of the party-goers and ask them a few questions. Among all, thr is one tt i remember very clearly. Justin! One of Olinda's supporters who came in with a big surprise for Olinda! To find out what it is exactly, hehehz, u'll hv to tune in to MTV Pop Inc.!! ;)

The Zing It Up Party finally started ard 8pm. Justin Ang from Power 98 did a great job in engaging everybody so much so tt my ears cld hardly make out wad he wuz saying at times! Of course, the highlight of e show wuz the performance by both Taufik and Olinda. They gave us a sneak preview of their upcoming highly-exclusive singles, which, i shld add, are pretty impressive. My personal fave? Oooh, it has to be one of Taufik's singles - A highly addictive, groovy track with such a hypnotising melody tt definitely made me dance along! And no! No telling of the song title! You'll hv to find out urself! Hehee~

And sooo many ppl won e new Sony Ericcson K610i!! Can i hv one too, Ripplevox?? (Another BIG hint!!) Hahahz!!!

Alrite alrite.. Well all gd things muz come to an end rite? In this case, the show seemed to end as quickly as it started. Oh well, wuz still enjoyable though. I said my goodbyes and quickly made my way to town for a long-overdue mealtime with my frenz!! By then, our whims and fancies may hv been sated, but the tummy wuz practically begging for leniency!!

No words can ever express hw thankful i am to all involved; everyone played their part in making this experience such a meaningful one. To Ripplevox, i sure hope this is only the beginning of many more to come yes? Hehee~
