I only heard about Aska Yang from my
Hong Kong
friend a few weeks ago. She wanted to fly to
Singapore
to see him and asked if I could obtain the tickets to the events on 29 March 08. I shortly discovered that besides the autograph session at Suntec which was open to the public, tickets to the other 2 events weren’t for sale. Fortunately, I saw an online ad for a pair of tickets to his showcase at Zouk and convinced the reporter at Wanbao to let us attend the fanclub gathering at SPH.
We joined the queue at Zouk around
3pm
, which meant we got to be in the front row right next to the fanclub members, who lent us their handmade posters! Aska sang several songs from his first album – Dove, my favourite being ‘Onion’ (http://www.4shared.com/file/34611235/207c7f6f/04_YANG_CONG.html) and his being ‘One Day’ (http://www.4shared.com/account/file/34611391/dc3c39cb/06_ONE_DAY.html). He was extremely obliging when the audience requested that he sang some of the other songs he performed during the ‘One Million Stars’ programme, which showed off his great vocals as he sang them without the minus-one tracks. The showcase was very enjoyable but I was disappointed that it lasted only 45 minutes, even with several encore ‘demands’.
The fanclub gathering was a very cosy affair with only 60-70 people. My friend was elated to be one of the 3 fans chosen to interact with Aska, sitting up close & personal next to him! Unfortunately, our camera battery died so I can’t post more pictures. However, you can check out the pictures, videos and write-ups on the above events at

p.s. My HK friend gave me a copy of Dove and I’m addicted to Aska’s songs now, except track #7. So I guess you could call me an Aska fan now!
