I must first confess that I was skeptical that I will enjoy a fantasy children flick, after the disappointments of Narnia. However, as the movie progresses I found myself thoroughly entertained with a good mix of mystery, fantasy and comedy elements.

Spiderwick starts off like any children movie. Mother together with her 3 children (Jared, Simon and Mallory) move into an old house away from New York to start a new life together. You can expect the usual family problems like sibling rivalry and marital issues. When Jared came upon a field guide, he ignored the warning letter outside and read the book. Never will Jared expects that his one simple decision to read the guide will turn out to be a life changing event for his whole family.

Lots of goblins, many fairies, a griffin, a talking pig with the ability to give 'sight' with his saliva, a lovable creature that adores honey call Timbletack and an evil lord that wants to rule to world.  All these CG animated creatures set the tone for a perfect family movie where adults, teenagers and children will enjoy together.
