American Gangster Assignment
Despite the slow start - and I mean a really slow entree into the maincourse of about half the movie - and the dark theme, the movie kept me totally engrossed until the end. Even after the lights had come on in the cinema, I was still sorting out the things said by Frank Lucas (played by a very inspired Denzel Washington) during the movie.

I suppose I've always been one to root for the underdogs, and in this case, I really appreciate how an underling like Frank could be as audacious as he had to be to become one of the biggest drug lords in America of that time. I especially like the bits where Frank showed unflinching resolve in his justification for his actions.

The doggedness of the detective, Richie Roberts (played by Russell Crowe), made the movie all the more intense. Crowe was so convincing as a goodboy cop (deja vu Gladiator) caught in a big bad world. The picture was completed by his team of 'clean' cops, especially the one with the big afro. Love!

Seriously, I think Ridley Scott can really do intense. Like really really intense kinda intense. Woot!

Totally worth the $9.50! ~ Gor

Great movie! Love the acting! ~ Ling

Hee.Watch it with someone who won't wanna go pee in the middle of the show. You needa watch the whole thing to fully savour it. =)

I even Googled the movie after watching it the first time - on my PC.
